Provides technical training instruction for Air Force specialty courses at training bases. Develops and delivers training to build the skills needed for Air Force technical careers.
“You'll be an Air Force technical training instructor — developing and delivering the specialized training that turns recruits into qualified technicians. Instructional design and adult education skills are directly applicable to corporate training, civilian technical education, and learning and development careers. Training and development is a growing field in both government and industry.”
Technical training instruction means you're responsible for turning students into qualified technicians in whatever specialty you're teaching — which requires both mastery of the subject matter and the pedagogical skill to transfer that knowledge under time pressure. The instructional design and facilitation skills transfer to corporate training and development, community college technical education, and L&D careers. Keesler, Goodfellow, Sheppard, and the other major technical training bases have specific cultures. You'll become intimately familiar with adult learning principles and the specific ways that students resist them.
