You've been in the infantry long enough to understand that the job is mostly keeping your Marines alive, trained, and out of trouble — in roughly that order of difficulty. The paperwork has multiplied with every promotion, your body is a documented history of field operations, and you are now the person who knows where all the bodies are buried (figuratively). The satisfaction of watching a boot you trained become a squad leader is genuine and not adequately described in any recruiting brochure. Your post-military value is in the leadership, the operational experience, and the ability to perform under pressure that infantry staff NCOs develop over a decade-plus career. Translate it carefully; civilian employers sometimes need the context.
