Got a wild idea? We build for service members — not the brass, not shareholders. If it's good, it ships.
Suggest a Feature →Space Operations Officer
Plans and leads Space Force operations including satellite command and control, space surveillance, and missile warning. Commands space operations units and integrates space capabilities into joint force operations.
“You'll command satellite operations in the newest military branch on Earth — the Space Force is building its culture, doctrine, and identity in real time and early officers have the specific opportunity to shape what it becomes. You'll manage systems that GPS, communications, and surveillance satellites depend on, and you'll do it in an institution where the norms are still being written. The commercial space industry is booming and Space Force officer experience is increasingly valued by SpaceX, ULA, Boeing, and the growing satellite operator sector.”
The Space Force is genuinely new, which means the promotional pathway is still being established, the culture is still being built, and the doctrine is still being written by people who were Air Force officers last year. You will help create the institution while operating within it, which is either an exciting opportunity or a source of constant ambiguity depending on your relationship with defined structures. Satellite command and control is real, consequential work. The commercial space industry connection is genuine — SpaceX, Planet Labs, and commercial satellite operators find Space Force officer experience specifically relevant. The branch is small enough that your network is tight and your assignments affect your trajectory more directly than in a larger service.
